Group Therapy

New Group Starting!

Self-Care Group Therapy

This “Mini-Retreat” series of self-care counseling has been designed specifically with moms in mind!

Moms work hard to provide and care for their families. It is not uncommon for mom to put her loved one’s needs before her own. Thus, this self-care inspired group counseling seeks to empower moms to set aside time so that they can have an opportunity to recenter, refocus, and revive.

During these three hours, you and other moms will come together and support one another in their journeys. Group topics and activities will address 1) Awareness, 2) Purpose and Meaning, 3) Authenticity, and 4) Resiliency.

To sign up, call Jocelyn at 501-510-3286 or request an appointment for a Free Group Consultation in the client portal.

 How Group Therapy Helps You

One of the goals of group therapy is to bring people together who share similar experiences. Experiences may be related to uncontrollable life events, for example, the loss of a loved one. In this instance, group members help one another grieve and cope with their loss. Experiences may also be connected to mental health concerns such as helping one another cope with ongoing anxiety or depression. Usually, the goal is for group members to learn new skills and strategies to help them cope with the challenges they face.

Each Group is Unique

Group therapy comes in many different shapes and sizes. Because each member is unique and adds their own value to the group, no two groups are the same. Each offers its own valued perspective.

 What Does Group Therapy Address?

Group themes may be centered around a variety of topics. Some of these may include supporting challenges associated with anxiety, depression, anger management, domestic violence, LGBTQIA, psychoeducation, adopting a healthy lifestyle, skill development, codependency, substance (ab)use, recovery (physical and mental), martial / family concerns, or self-acceptance. The types of groups that are established are directly influenced by the needs of the local community.

Frequently Asked Questions

How will we meet?

Group therapy may be conducted virtually, using telehealth services, or face-to-face in a secure, HIPAA-compliant location. More specific details and information will be made available to group participants before each meeting.

How long does group last?

Depending on the groups’ needs, groups may last anywhere between 60 and 120 minutes. The average is 90 minutes.

The lifespan of a group may also fluctuate depending on group needs. At minimum, a group will usually last at least 8 weeks. Others can span up to a year. This, of course, is influenced by how often the group meets (once/twice a week versus once a month).

What can I expect from our first meeting?

The first time the group meets, we will review and discuss informed consent and confidentiality and answer any questions you may have. Then we will address the group’s objective, expectations, and what the general goal is for coming together. Afterwards, group members will have an opportunity to introduce themselves and establish a set of group rules they feel are appropriate.

Can I request a new group?

Absolutely! Groups are created based on the community’s needs. If you have a need or an idea for group and community support, please contact me at Jocelyn@RetreatCW.com.
